ISLAMIC. Circa AH 2nd-4th century / AD 8th-10th century. Seal (Lead, 20 mm, 8.36 g). Illegible Kufic inscription on the obverse in the widely spaced angular script typical of the Umayyad and early ʿAbbasid period. The inscription, which has been intentionally crossed off, begins with ‘bism Allāh’ (‘In the name of Allah’) in the 1st line and contains the word ‘al-amīr’ (‘the amir’) in the 3rd line. Twos crapes on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
